Nawab was Director of Epidemiology and Evidence-based Medicine, GSK (1997-2005); he trained under and worked with Professor Sir Richard Peto F.R.S., and was founding editor of the Cochrane Dementia Group. He also trained in general internal medicine and geriatrics under Professor Sir John Grimley Evans and was Honorary Consultant Physician at the Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford (1997-2000), and St's Mary's Hospital, London (2005-2006).

He was the originator of the Prospective Studies Collaboration: individual participant data meta-analysis of 61 of the largest prospective cohort studies from 4 continents.

Among CROs in Europe, Nawab provides clients with a unique combination of high quality epidemiological and clinical experience (honorary consultant physician - "board-certified" equivalent in the USA) covering many therapeutic areas. He has sat on many Steering/Scientific committees as an expert in clinical epidemiology.

Ana Filipa Macedo - PharmD PhD

Director of Epidemiology 

 

Ana Filipa Macedo holds a Pharmaceutical degree and a PhD in Pharmacoepidemiology. She has more than 17 years of experience in the design and conduct of studies using primary data collection and secondary data sources. She has worked across various therapeutic areas, in the design of observational studies on the natural history of disease and comparative safety and effectiveness of medical treatments.

 

Ana Filipa was a research fellow at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where she worked with Prof. Liam Smeeth and Ian Douglas in studies using CPRD; and joined the Cochrane Heart group, working with Prof. Shah Ebrahim in the conduct of numerous systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Ana Filipa also worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry in the UK, being responsible for the evidence synthesis required for health technology appraisals, including network meta-analyses. She is co-author of the book chapter “Primary data collection for Pharmacoepidemiology” in Brian Strom’s textbook “Pharmacoepidemiology”. 20018 (In Press).

Director of Operations

Lorenzo is a medical doctor and epidemiologist with more than 20 years of experience in conducting observational studies in all major therapeutic areas in southern Europe.

Lorenzo previously worked as an epidemiologist at AstraZeneca and the global CRO, SGS.

Ignacio Mendez - VMD MPH
Ignacio Mendez - VMD MPH

Director of Field Analytics and HEOR

Ignacio has more than 19 years of experience in epidemiology, health economics, patient-reported outcomes and associated statistical methodologies.

He specialises in the application and analysis of PROs and health economic measures in observational studies and decision analysis. Ignacio has previously worked at the CRO, TAIS. He is currently a member of the ENCePP HTA task force of the EMA. He provides advanced statistical expertise and has experience of analysing safety data in observational studies.

Marta Mariño BSc
Marta Mariño BSc

Pharmacovigilance Director

Marta was previously head of pharmacovigilance at Schering-Plough from 1995-2010 and has experience of all areas and phases of drug safety. She has specialised in the operational, quality and compliance aspects of safety in observational studies and patient registries.

She ensures quality and compliance of all the quantitative safety projects in OXON.

Raúl Sánchez, BSc, MSc

Director of Data Management

Raul has over 22 years of experience in data management using different EDC and paper-based systems in local and international projects in most of the indications. Raúl has previously worked as data manager, SAS programmer, project manager and director of the data management department at Sotio and CROs: ICON and MDS.

Steve Albrecht

Director of Strategic Business Operations

Steve has over 29 years of operational experience directing observational studies including compassionate use. He was most recently Global head of Late Phase for Chiltern International based in London, UK. He has been involved in directing over 150 observational studies including large global registries and retrospective chart studies.

Stuart Pocock

Stuart Pocock MA PhD, is a medical statistician (≥30 NEJM; ≥40 Lancet) and Professor of Medical Statistics at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. He has experience in epidemiology, trials and statistical methodology, including meta-analysis and EMA and FDA. He provides OXON advice on advanced analysis.


Jeffrey Aronson

Jeffrey Aronson MA DPhil FRCP HonFBPhS HonFFPM, Honorary Consultant Physician and Clinical Pharmacologist, Oxford; President Emeritus of the British Pharmacological Society; Editor of Meyler's Side Effects of Drugs, 16th edition; a member of the Advisory Board of the British National Formulary; and a former member of an appraisal committee of NICE. He advises OXON on adverse drug reactions and NICE evaluations.
